Congregational Way Statement of Belief:
The Congregational Church of Nokomis believes the following truths, found in Scripture, about “The Congregational Way”;
Jesus Christ is the head of our Church as affirmed in Matthew 18:20 NIV “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I among them.”
The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is fully sufficient as our guide in all matters of faith and practice as affirmed in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Our Church is complete and has everything necessary for its spiritual function as affirmed in Ephesians 4:12-13 “to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
Our Church is autonomous and complete, free from dictates or decisions of any outside ecclesiastical council. We believe the old saying, ” in essentials, unity; in doubtful matters, liberty; in all things, charity. But we do NOT agree that ungodliness and evil is acceptable
We fellowship with other believers and Christian Churches as equals in Christian love, being like-minded, of one spirit and purpose as the early Churches lived together, not in a relationship of dominance and submission as affirmed in Philippians 2:2 “then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.” and II Corinthians 13:11-12 11 “Finally, brothers, good-by. Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.”
