History of the Congregational Church of Nokomis:
Welcome to the Congregational Church of Nokomis. The Congregational Church in Nokomis was founded in 1977 by the Rev. Kenneth A. McCay. His goal and objective for ministry was to simply preach and teach the Bible as it was intended. Today, K.C. McCay pastor’s the church his father founded.
Our main foundational doctrine for faith is 2 Tim 3:16 NIV that: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
The Congregational Church has its roots back to the Pilgrims in the early 1600’s. The people who made up these congregations were fleeing England because of religious persecution. They came to America to Worship Jesus Christ freely without governmental abuse. Their struggle left us with a spiritual heritage that frames our Congregational Way. We believe that:
● Jesus Christ alone is the head of the Church (Body of Christ)
● The Bible is the Holy Spirit inspired Word of God and is fully sufficient as our guide in all matters of faith and practice
● The Congregational Church of Nokomis is an autonomous and complete body of Christ that has every Spiritual gift power necessary for its spiritual function
● We fellowship with each other as believers in Christ. We are one church that is part of Christ’s worldwide Body. It is our purpose to serve one another in Christian love and honesty as we study and share God’s word together.
