“Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him. Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!” Psalm 32:10-11
It’s Friday!!! I find myself inwardly joyful. There are a couple reasons for that… none of which make sense! Our refrigerator ice maker went on the fritz again. I had just fixed it a while back, and I don’t really know what I did. So yesterday I started pushing buttons like I knew what I was doing. Suddenly, it started making ice!
Also, our water fountain started running out of water. I couldn’t find out where or why. So yesterday I went out and took it apart. I pushed some hoses around and refilled it. Now it’s running link a champ! I don’t know why. BUT… I am joyful that what was once a problem, is now a blessing. We have ice… AND the sound of our fountain.
O.K., I get that those 2 things are absolutely weird. I am NOT saying that God has magically blessed me because I love Him and honor Him as my God. Neither am I saying I am joyful because broken stuff is fixed. Loving God brings me joy. Today’s verse appears to insinuate that Joy magically surrounds those who love Him. Read it again!
Spiritual warfare surrounds all of us and is FAR more rampant than we even imagine. I find there is tremendous relief and blessing when I realize that this whole world is NOT about ME. Glorifying God through the broken times of life brings me a joy that often does not make sense. Thank God I don’t have to figure it all out! Are YOU Joyful in Jesus?
