“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” 1 Corinthians 9:24
It is 2024. It is typically a time of year to look over my life and weigh and measure how well I am doing in my relationships to God, Family and people. Last night at Bible Study, I threw open the question for discussion by asking, ‘What is it that you strive, seek or promise to God that you will do… and NOT do. It was an interesting time and the answers were recorded.
Not all things can apply to all people. ‘I promise to feed the dog daily,’ cannot apply to someone who doesn’t have a dog. But overall, I am very proud of the insights that came from our Church people. It is a good suggestion to spend some time reading Deuteronomy to find out what God considers as basic rules of conduct for obedience to Him. His principles do not change.
Do’s and Don’ts for 2024
I read my Bible thoroughly, and spend quiet time with Jesus every morning.
I don’t miss Church or Bible Study.
I Pray
I don’t watch Horror movies or open myself to the Dark World
I don’t drink to excess or to get drunk
I don’t read Horoscopes or dabble in the unknown

I serve others
I give my time and my money appropriately to God first
I share the Gospel with others
I admit when I am wrong
I fellowship with other Christians

This is not a complete or exhaustive list, but it helps to define our own lives as we choose to run our race to win the prize Christ has for us. I pray this helps you as it has all of us. Maybe you have some other suggestions or ideas.
