Take Refuge In The Lord…

Take Refuge In The Lord…

09.22.2019 – “ In the Lord I take refuge.
How then can you say to me:
“Flee like a bird to your mountain.
For look, the wicked bend their bows;
they set their arrows against the strings
to shoot from the shadows
at the upright in heart.
When the foundations are being destroyed,
what can the righteous do?”

The Lord is in his holy temple;
the Lord is on his heavenly throne.
He observes everyone on earth;
his eyes examine them.
The Lord examines the righteous,
but the wicked, those who love violence,
he hates with a passion.
On the wicked he will rain
fiery coals and burning sulfur;
a scorching wind will be their lot.

For the Lord is righteous,
he loves justice;
the upright will see his face.” Psalm 11:1-7

Can you empathize with David? Have you ever suffered at the hands of another person? Perhaps a parent. Or an older sibling or relative. Or a school bully. If so, you’re probably carrying around some emotional baggage as a result of your experience.

It’s time to let it go and do what David did. Take shelter in God. Understand this: God’s heart is broken by the abuse you’ve experienced. And someday he will hold your unrepentant tormentors accountable for what they’ve done. In the meantime, you have a life to live – to the fullest. Without your past experiences weighing you down.

God can help you live that kind of life. Give him a chance.
